I currently have two Big Jon downriggers, SPEC BJ2000TP 6-448 5/82 and 6-449 that I bought in 1983. These downriggers have been nothing short of fantastic, how well they have served me. I fish in Lake Superior a lot, but do not run a charter. Each trip is logged. Here are some statistics from 1984 through 2006: Hours of trolling, 7004: number of fishing trips, 2061: number of fish caught, 8239. My average fishing depth is 150' of water. You can do the math on how many times these downriggers have been up and down, but my guess is roughly 20,000 times, equivalent to 1,150 miles of with an 8 pound weight. I've had a personal web site for 11 years where I post my fishing results. Check it out at www.superiorfishing.net. I have only spent $40 on downrigger parts over the 23 years. How can you do better than that? However, the years are showing and the brushes on one are nearly worn out and the brass clutch pads are also pretty much worn. The switch on the starbord rigger should probably replaced too. There will probably be other things you see that need work. Your service guys rock! I really appreciate all the help I got from the service department. I was testing out my sportsman electric downrigger befor I left for my annual salmon fishing trip to Lake Ontario. To my diappointment I found out that my motor had corrosion inside and needed to be replaced. I was worried that my trip was ruined without my Big Jon Sportsman downrigger. Thanks to them, they are mailing me a replacement motor to New York, so the motor will be waiting for me when I arrive. You saved my trip! I can't imagine better customer service from any other company!!

It's been several years since I needed repair parts for any of my six Big Jons. It's great to know I can get them so quickly.

As you can see from the enlcosed photographs, I believe in and utilize your products. There are two reasons for this, with the first one being that I like the quality and functionality of your products. The second one and perhaps the most important, is the outstanding support that I recieved from Rick LaRocque in your parts and service department. Thank's to Rick's willingness to sell me some of the raw materials I needed for my "customized" planer board masts, I was able to complete this project and have all the components match. Rick is also very responsive when parts are needed to get your gear back in action.

I had a problem with my Captain's Pak downrigger. I called the people at Big Jon and they sent me the items needed to make all the repairs. I was in a pinch as I was heading to a Tournament the next weekend and I needed to make the rigger work. I got the items in record time and the advice I was given made all the differance. I could have sent them to Big Jon for the repairs but time was against me. Everything worked great! I have used Big Jon equipment since 1994 and they work great. I believe in them. Just look at my boat, four Big Jon Captain's Paks and two Big Jon planer reels. No other reason to go to Big Jon except that you deserve to fish the best.

I am a proud owner of 4 Big Jon downriggers that are 16 years old. I contacted the company to order parts for 1 unit that went bad, thinking it would cost in excess of $100. John, one of their Techs, suggested I send it in and have it repaired (total cost was $38.00).
I was totally shocked that in these times, there are still companies out there that will take time to help others.
