Largest Freshwater Fish Caught Is A…Stingray?

Yes, you read that correctly. Have to admit, we’re a little late to the party on this one, but regardless, who doesn’t want to hear about a 14 ft. long, 8 ft. wide, 700-800 pound stingray?

This beast was found by researchers in the Mae Klong River in Thailand. Funny enough, Zeb Hogan, belonging to the National Geographic team, actually met the same stingray under a program of his back in 2009.

This stingray was actually pregnant with two fetal rays, and oddly enough, pregnant the first time Zeb Hogan came across the beast. As a result, Hogan believes that the ray was found in an area that could very well have been a nursey ground.

Not sure if you’d want to try out the downriggers on a stingray, but always fun to see other fishermen doing it their way from around the world!
